My Top 5 Travel Essentials
Every time a new trip comes up, I end up buying new things. Who can relate?! Ha! I don’t know about you, but I love to pull out a new pair of pajamas or outfit for a trip that I’ve had planned. While travelling we know it’s going to be hot, or freezing, there may be rain, or it’ll be so dry, and I just CAN’T forget my favorite moisturizer.
I’ve come up with a list of my 5 must-have travel essentials. Some I already own, others are inexpensive but ultimately, they make any trip for me much more enjoyable. Knowing I have these on hand at all times makes packing so much less stressful.
Yes, Stasher Zip Silicon Bags!
They have become my number one essential while travelling. When I travel, every single beauty product, from shampoo to toothpaste to my favorite charcoal mask, is stored in my Stasher bags. This way, if anything spills, damages will be limited (no shampoo stains on your favorite jeans!). I usually carry 3 or 4 items per silicon bag.
I also carry extras, in case I need one for a lunch or a new product, or if one breaks. I carry different sizes to be able to fit any type of product.
Good to know: Stasher bags are an endlessly reusable, non-toxic silicone storage bag that has exploded into a global mission that’s preventing over a billion single-use plastic bags from entering our oceans and landfills. You can see how ONE small change can have a HUGE impact.
2. My handy dandy mock first aid carrier.
I ordered this handy Hanging Toiletry Bag. It’s ideal for storing cosmetics, makeup, first aid items and jewelry. It’s act as a first-aid kit first and foremost when I travel. Not only that, but it’s something I’ve found to be an essential to travel without worry! What I did was buy travel sizes of all things that I feel I might need in an emergency and then also store shampoo, conditioner and body wash, of course from my favorite company Beautycounter, and other essentials like:
Different band-aids
Alcohol
Polysporin
Cotton wool
Q-tips
Wet ones
Ibuprofen
Anti-nausea, anti-allergy and anti-diarrhea medicine
A medi-pack hot & cold bag, that you can put in the freezer or the microwave to soothe muscles.
Any vitamins or prescribed medications.
This handy carrier just stays in my closet when I’m not travelling and when it’s time to go I simply grab and go without having the hassle to collect everything around the house again and put away when I return home. It’s a true lifesaver of time!
3. Good Walking Shoes
This is a must for me when I travel. I want something comfortable on my feet, especially if I’m sightseeing or at a conference. If I’m speaking or attending at a conference, I always take my stage shoes with me and wear my walking shoes to and from. This allows my feet some relief and also my back.
4. My Favorite Outfit
I always make sure I travel with an outfit that is not only comfortable but also complimentary too. I like to feel good and confident in my skin, and a great outfit helps! Furthermore, I like to have a little something that makes you feel a little fancy and free. Whether it’s a cute dress (my pick), or simply a necklace or a ring that makes you feel special, I find it helps spruce things up a bit, which is always helpful.
5. The Ultimate Everything Cream!
There is something about having an option to wash my face and use a moisturizer every day. I like to make sure my face feels clean and is moisturized, along with my entire body. I can go without makeup any day, but to feel like my face is dirty or not clean, it’s just not very appealing to me. Meet the most magical makeup remover, cleanser, overnight facial mask, skin conditioner Counter + Lotus Cleansing Balm. This multitasking cleansing balm is perfect for day and night use. It hydrates while it cleanses, removing impurities with nourishing ingredients that won’t strip away your skin’s natural moisture. Total BONUS is if you care tired and dehydrated from travelling, this will work as an overnight facial or use a body moisturizer! There is a blend of lotus extract, jojoba seed oil, and avocado seed oil. Yes please! I’m game for anything that soothes and de-stresses skin while increasing luminosity while traveling.
There you have it! I hope you love as much as I do! If you are flying, don’t forget to mark your bags with something that you will recognize while your bag(s) come down the luggage belt. I have a bright pink pom, pom, and it works every single time while waiting for my luggage. My entire family also knows and doesn’t need to ask if this is the one.
Happy Traveling Friends!

P.S. Any product you use on a regular basis should be cleaned often (psst: your beauty cabinet will look and feel much nicer when you’re finished, too). So, grab the soap, a little water, and get cleansing. As you clean, be sure to check each period-after-opening (PAO) symbol while you’re at it. Beautycounter products specify the number of months that you can expect them to be safe for use. Look for a tiny period-after-opening (PAO) symbol of an open lid pot with a note like “12M”, which means the product’s lifespan is 12 months from the time you open it if it’s been stored and used properly. You may be due to replace some of your old #betterbeauty—which will make it, well, even better.
