Beautycounter's Skin Twin Concealer Review
I’m a busy girl. I work a lot, I work out a lot, I drive my kids all over the creation, walk to get my daily steps in daily… so basically I do a lot of things! Not only that, but I find when I get really busy, the first thing to be affected is my sleep… which we all know leaves us with dark circles and no one wants these!
I’ve always wondered what the true meaning is when someone says, “You look tired.” Ha! This past winter I was super busy, my tan had faded from summer, and I was working a lot with disruptive sleep and the circles under my eyes were massively visible.
So, what can we do about that? If getting more sleep is not an option for you, or genetically you do have darker under eye circles? Well… you can find an amazing concealer to help them!
Now the question is…how do I find one that looks natural, not too thick or cake-y? Don’t worry, I did this step for you and tested a lot of concealers, while Beautycounter’s original concealer was pulled off the market for a period of time, to upgrade performance of the doe tip.
Back in the day, prior to really understanding just how important a clean concealer was for my health, I searched for something that was not full of toxins, I tried a few natural brands but then ended up trying Beautycounter’s Skin Twin Creamy Concealer and WOW! I was blown away!
While I had a well-founded skincare routine for years, I was never a big makeup wearer until I actually found Beautycounter. How to use the Skin Twin Concealer
This is my go-to routine prior to applying any makeup. It’s important to have fresh, clean and hydrated skin, so your canvas is primed to hold the makeup beautifully.
Next, apply your foundation, I like to apply Skin Twin foundation with the better blender which has been a game-changer to save on product and also distribute my makeup evenly. Be sure to check out my Skin Twin Foundation review here!
Now, apply Skin Twin concealer
You’ll notice in my video demonstration below, I apply under my eyes, with a slight line pointing upwards, this is in effort to create the illusion of more lift for your face. You can also apply to acne scars or other locations that may need additional coverage. This formula is great for building!
To apply the concealer, you don’t need much! Apply to the area you are looking to cover up. If you add too much, you can run into creasing, so try to use less than you think because you can always add more if needed!
To blend, I love using my ring finger or the better blender (I will get this wet and ring out to help distribute product), you can see a video how I do this here. Lightly tap the product into skin until it blends, please don’t tug or rub, just pat into skin gently. If you feel you need more coverage, you can add more if needed until you get the level of coverage you like.
If you feel you need an extra boost to help set your concealer, which sometimes if it’s really humid out, I’ll apply a bit of mattifying powder with a loose brush on the under eye area. I like to add this to help set my makeup and absorb any shine I might have. Don’t worry, there is no residue! It’s natural and translucent.
TIP:
If I was stranded on a desert island and could only bring one product, this would be a top choice of mine! Here’s why: The overnight resurfacing peel when used every other night or 3xs a week to slough off old skin cells, it helps boost radiance and skin texture which means it’ll help your makeup set beautifully! If you want to make sure your makeup looks as flawless as it can, and not settle into your pores, which ultimately I think makes us look older, I HIGHLY recommend that you prioritize a daily skincare routine and a weekly exfoliating treatment! Your makeup can only apply as smoothly as the canvas it is being painted on (i.e., your skin!).
