My Fave High Protein Snack For Weight Loss

Looking to increase your daily protein intake? Enjoy this super easy and fast yummy high-protein snack to keep you satisfied and energized all day!

I love a good snack.

Sometimes after a workout or an outing with Michael and the boys, I get a craving for a little something to tide me over until I start thinking about what to make for dinner. This also helps my chocolate peanut butter fetish! Seriously, is there a better combo?! Maybe almond butter and chocolate a close second!

With the clean-eating lifestyle I lead, I don’t really do a lot of snacks that aren’t healthy. Sure, if we’re on vacation, I’m good to go like everyone else and have an ice cream or something a little more spontaneous but I’m a true creature of habit. I can literally eat a single food for months and then once I’m sick of it I move on. Did you know that this is also accurate for my Human Design energy type?! Yep, in my Human Design Readings, I cover digestion and where you thrive best when out or going out to eat and this was so spot on for me! Like literally, I can eat the same thing for MONTHS until I get sick of it and then one day I wake up and move on. This is energetically correct for me too! I strive to eat with the seasons. Fruit becomes my go-to especially in the summer months.

In general, if I’m going to snack, I want to make it count and if it tastes like dessert and is healthy?! WINNING! I also want it to be good for me and keep me going all day without continuous cravings.

That’s why I opt for a high-protein snack, which is like a treat with a power-packed punch.

WHAT DOES PROTEIN DO FOR YOU?

Protein does so much for the body, including the following:

  • Protein reduces the level of ghrelin, the hunger hormone

  • Protein helps you retain bone mass

  • When you eat protein, you have less cravings

  • Your muscle mass and strength increase with protein

  • High protein intake boosts metabolism

  • Higher protein intake is linked to lower blood pressure

  • Protein can help your body repair after injury

WHY EAT HIGH PROTEIN SNACKS?

Eating high protein snacks throughout the day as opposed to treats with empty calories and too much sugar can do a lot for your physical well-being. You’ll feel better without hitting a slump or feeling sluggish – in fact, you’ll have more energy!

Protein boosts your metabolism and gives you the energy to keep moving all day long. Yes, please! You will be more alert, and your blood sugar levels will be stabilized. No more spikes and drops that leave you feeling shaky and exhausted.

Protein makes a snack healthy because of the effects eating protein has on your body. Increasing muscle and strength is ideal if you are looking for a stronger, fitter & leaner you.

Here are a few of my favorite HIGH PROTEIN snacks to date:

  • Beans

  • Lentils

  • Lean chicken and pork

  • Cheese (if you are not dairy free)

  • Seeds

  • Nuts

  • Greek yogurt (if dairy free look for Cashewgurt or So Delicious Coconut Yogurt)

  • Eggs
